From Idea to Realization: How to Plan and Develop a Research Project
Target Group
Early stage postdocs as well as advanced doctoral candidates in the last year of their doctoral studies.
Content
Step by step the workshop will focus on how to plan and develop a research project. Topics covered range from how to identify appropriate funding to central aspects of successful proposal writing (research focus, originality, impact upon research field, feasibility and innovation, your own project-related contributions, collaboration, timeline, workplan, resources, budget, style and presentation).
Objectives
The goal of this workshop is to identify and explain the different elements involved in drawing up a proposal for research funding. We provide young researchers with a basic understanding of accessing appropriate funding, the grant application process and on how to prepare a competitive proposal. With this course, we want to increase the chances in the highly competitive field of third-party-funding on the path towards an academic career.
Methods
Introduction to the subject, working in small groups, presentation and discussion of results
Prerequisites
Participants should have some background knowledge of the German funding system.
