Academic Writing (Upper-intermediate)
Target group
This course is designed for doctoral candidates of all faculties who wish to improve their writing skills in English in a relaxed and supportive environment. To benefit a wide range of doctoral candidates, it will not be possible to focus on one particular field of studies.

- Punctuation and signposting
- Avoiding plagiarism
In addition to the topics above, we will also look at examples of your writing relating to topics such as CVs, applications and sections of dissertations (not too long) and provide individualized feedback.
All areas of communication will play a central role in the course. It is important to come prepared to participate in each session and to make positive contributions to the class. There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss and provide feedback on each other’s work.

Relevant texts and learning material will be provided in class.
Please note: The required proficiency level for this course is B2 (upper-intermediate) and a short placement test will be conducted in the first week to ensure all participants share this level.
The course will consist of a diverse mixture of doctoral candidates; both culturally and in their own language abilities. We all have different strengths and weaknesses and it is best to keep an open mind and remember that we can all learn something from each other.
