Objectives

After this workshop,

  • you understand publishers’, editors’, and reviewers’ missions and tasks.
  • you evaluate publishing activities in respect of ethical guidelines.
  • you compare target journals based on relevant criteria.
  • you judge the usefulness of different strategies for achieving publishing success.

Methods

Short lectures provide information and tips; extended exercises help to develop individual strategies. In addition, participants share experiences and discuss recommendations.

In preparation of this workshop, participants select three journals relevant for their field of research. For each journal, they bring to the workshop information about: (1) aims and scope, (2) reputation, (3) editors and editorial staff.
